So many beautiful women that I’ve been speaking with lately are really struggling with their energy.
Feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and holding so much for so many.
Knowing the key things to do, to heal, or better yet prevent burnout is so important for our sustainable energy in life.
Burnout often happens after we have been living in a chronic state of stress long term. (A major reason why so many are so exhausted is from living through the last 3-4 years!)
Coupled with acute stressors, sometimes these can be a loved one passing away or becoming ill, it can be a change in financial security, a job change or role, a new baby or major life transition, or becoming unwell, or going through surgery or having an accident.
When we’ve been living in chronic stress for such a long term, often our reserves are depleted, leaving us with little to no capacity for dealing with other challenges or adversities on top of the chronic stress.
When these acute stressors happen, they can hit our nervous systems hard, often dropping people into the “Freeze” state as a radical attempt to conserve energy.
When we are in the freeze state, everything feels even more difficult and harder than normal.
I often describe it as trying to walk through a boggy marsh with concrete boots on. Our body may feel extremely heavy, and lethargic, and quite often it’s accompanied by feeling extremely apathetic with life. Making it even harder to implement the changes you may feel you need to, in your life.
This is also why it can feel so challenging to stop the high carb and high sugar cravings, or caffeine fix because our body is attempting to get a “quick hit” of energy in order to keep going.
All of these things only further exacerbate the issue and keep us “stuck” for longer.
The challenge with burnout is, the longer we are in it, the harder and longer it takes to heal it. This is also why continuing to “try to push yourself” when there’s nothing left in the tank is one of the worst things you can do.
This can be so hard when you’re used to being a highly driven, self-motivated woman, who normally just gets in and gets things done, but finding that when you hit the “accelerator” now, nothing is happening.
