Are you feeling it too?
The energies have been big and heavy over the past couple of weeks.
Personally I’ve had to have a lot of time out and take loads of time to rest and I felt this was super important to mention, especially launching into the silly season soon with December rapidly approaching!
A few things that always help me stay a little more balanced and out of overwhelm in this busier part of the year.
1. Listen to your body and check in several times in the day. How are you really feeling? What do you really need?
2. Be clear on what you are saying yes and no to. FOMO can have us feeling that we need to be attending everything and making sure we don’t miss out on opportunities, leaving you feeling like you are literally rushing from one thing to the next with NO SPACE to breath or just be.
3. Financial stress can be a huge strain for so many people at this time of year. I’ve always felt my kids needed my PRESENCE, more than my PRESENTS. A really thoughtful smaller gift, is so much more meaningful than a huge, big gift, that causes you so much financial stress and leaves you feeling overwhelmed financially.
4. Eat really good food, drink plenty of water and prioritise your sleep when you can. A huge part of what throws people out of whack and adds to the stress of December is eating way too much processed and high sugar foods, along with excess alcohol and not enough water or sleep. How you feel physically directly impacts how you feel mentally and emotionally.
5. Schedule time out for just you and set healthy boundaries. People will be ok, and even if it’s just a 10 min moment of sitting in the sun with a nice cuppa, it can make all the difference.
6. If you feel overwhelmed, do a brain dump of all that you feel really needs to happen between now and the big day. Most people feel overwhelmed because they don’t know what their real priorities are, and they are cycling lists in their head. Take time to get clear and plan out your week.
Make sure you go through and prioritize what really is urgent and important. (I like to use the four quadrants to prioritize things.
7. Make time to have fun and actually enjoy yourself! With all the rushing and stress we can forget to actually enjoy ourselves. Set an intention for how you would like to experience December and even Christmas day. I recommend putting a sticky note somewhere that reminds you of this, especially in moments of stress or rushing.
8. Practise Gratitude and feeling love and appreciation for your family and your life. It truly is one of the best anecdotes for stress, fear and worry.
Love and Blessings,
