How resilient are you?

Are you feeling weighed down with a sense of heaviness with all the lockdowns?

It’s so understandable if you are feeling anxious, down, or depressed right now. 

Most people have been in a state of uncertainty for 18 months or longer now. It is starting to take a huge toll on people’s mental, emotional and physical well-being. 

At the beginning of covid, most people went into the fight/flight response.

This meant that they actually had more energy as their body went into the adrenal response in reaction to the “emergency”.

The body is unable to continue to sustain this extra adrenaline release each day, over a long period of time.

So to conserve energy we can often start to withdraw and shut down.

Yet with the continued uncertainty, you could be starting to feel a sense of restlessness, unease, and agitation.


Causing more and more adrenal fatigue and exhaustion and overwhelm to set in.

Right now, emotional resilience is absolutely critical. We are in a marathon, not a sprint.

The journaling questions for your reference are: 

 

Write down all your answers on the list and make sure that you highlight, EVERYTHING that is possible for you now. 

Take time to also brainstorm ways that you can do some of the things, but in a different way.

For example, one of the things on my list was to “See my Girls”.

To overcome the challenge that I can’t travel to see them at this stage, we connect by Facetiming and by lots of Snapchat and conversations each day.

We also send each other surprises in the mail, one of which was a super big teddy bear, with a message to each of them embroidered on its paws. This was my way of being able to give them a big “virtual” hug. 

It made me smile so much when we did a facetime together and they opened their teddy parcels from me. 

The more you can feel free, it will also help you to realize all the things that you can still do and improve your mental and emotional state right now. 

This is essential, it could be a long journey ahead. 


Prepping yourself with a strong mindset, and emotional state will be key to surviving in this period.

And actually get you back to enjoying your life again.


Every day we have a choice about what we will make things mean, which impacts how we feel emotionally.

This is critical to remember because our children are picking up constantly on our own emotional state and wellbeing. 

This affects them greatly. 

Knowing how to lead yourself first, and how to remain emotionally resilient is key. Teaching these tools and skills to your children, will prepare them for living a happy and successful life. And support them in this current climate.
