Self-Improvement or Self-Rejection?

Something to be super aware of, when we are looking to create changes in our lives, or even within ourselves is, what is the energy that is driving wanting to create the changes?

Is it coming from a place of joy, self-love, self-acceptance, and expansion of creating more of what you desire to experience in life?

Or is it coming from a feeling of internal anger, rejection of yourself, or feeling that you are still not enough and you need to be “better” in some way shape, or form, in order to have what you desire?

It’s such an important question to ask ourselves and I’ve absolutely tried to create change within myself from both energies.

The second one will always produce a feeling of resistance, exhaustion and in some cases frustration and even anger at ourselves.

It’s trying to change ourselves from a place of fear and non-acceptance of who and how we are currently and it will produce so much resistance.

Creating change within from a deep place of self-love, and self-acceptance will produce a feeling of flow, of ease, of joy, of excitement of happiness.

It’s so much easier to have self-compassion for the times we fall back into older patterns when we create change from this place.

This is what I love so much about the Byron Katie work, as it naturally supports us to accept where we are and to work with love and compassion.

When we love what is, we are no longer fighting reality. We have been taught that violence and anger toward ourselves produce change.

I can’t tell you how many times I tried to “beat my body into shape” by punishing it, pushing it, depriving it, being harsh with it, internally berating myself, and yelling at myself…..

These days I do my very best to take care of my body from a deep place of self-love and compassion knowing that it always reflects back to me, my thoughts and feelings about myself.

It’s time to flip this on its head and realise, that Love is what supports long-term change, done in a way that is supportive, encouraging, gentle, intuitively guided, and done in divine timing.
