Tips for Improving your Wellbeing and Energy….

As a Kinesiologist, coach, and human, I’ve observed that when we are going through our most challenging experiences mentally and emotionally we tend to be very quick to neglect our physical body.

Yet our mind, body, and spirit is so interlinked and I know for sure, that taking care of our physical body is one of the best and fastest ways that we can also radically improve and support our mental and emotional well-being.

If you are going through a really tough time at the moment, these few tips below could be really helpful for you.

  1. Sleep – Do your absolute best to prioritize and get at least 8 hours of quality sleep a night. Try to stay consistent with your bedtime as it will support your circadian rhythm, and our body craves routine and certainty, that will support calming your mind and getting good sleep.
  2. Get adequate sunshine or get outdoors for 20 mins per day. You may not feel like a full-on workout, yet a gentle stroll can work wonders for the body, mind, and soul, especially if you can get out in nature or more natural surroundings. (This will also improve your sleep as adequate sunlight during the day, supports melatonin production in the evening.)
  3. Eat regular balanced meals. This includes good-quality protein, complex carbohydrates, and high-quality fats such as avocado, salmon, nuts, and seeds. This will support your blood sugar, and help to stabilize your mood and energy.
  4. Minimise sugar, processed foods, poor-quality carbohydrates, alcohol, and caffeine.. These will drive your blood sugar up in a spike, only to crash later on, leaving you feeling depleted and less resilient emotionally and physically. (Not to mention sugar impairs your immune system for 24 hours after consuming and plays havoc with your health.)
  5. Use EFT Tapping to support your nervous system and help to acknowledge, accept and feel your big emotions. This actually supports the body to clear it from your system. (Tonnes of “how to videos” on YouTube.)

If you are moving through a really challenging time at the moment, or you’ve noticed that you are going through the same or very similar patterns again and again, working with a support person, that can guide you and help you spot belief systems that are keeping you stuck and recreating more of what you don’t want, can be extremely valuable and supportive, to get you back to feeling good again sooner.

Not to mention, when we feel extremely overwhelmed, our nervous system can go into a highly functional “freeze” state. This feels like trying to move forward with the brakes on or walking through a muddy bog hole with concrete boots on. The body often feels heavy, lethargic, and very apathetic.

Understanding how to regulate and heal your nervous system, can be such a blessing and can bring so much more self-love, compassion, and awareness to you, which is so supportive.
