Have you ever had that feeling when you’ve shared something so deep and so profound to your core that you end up with a vulnerability hangover?
I definitely have and the last few days has been no exception, I’ve been really leaning into deep vulnerability in my feelings about sharing my book.
And whilst there’s a part of me that is so absolutely damn excited about bringing this into the world, there’s also a part of me that’s terrified.
And this is when I know I’m truly growing and it goes deep into living my own truth and teachings, in the Courage to be Your Authentic Self! (Spoiler alert, this is Chapter 5 in my book!)
As my book writing mentor Dave Thompson has mentioned numerous times on our training calls, it takes some big kahoona’s (not quite his words 😉) to write a book and bring it into the world.
It can bring up our deepest fears of others judgements, self-judgements and really challenge our feelings of worthiness and imposter syndrome, not to mention the vulnerability that comes with sharing some of our hardest experiences and deepest parts of our own thoughts and being.
And I’ve definitely been feeling all the feels, it’s had me revisit some old trauma’s that have been retriggered, of shame and humiliation for speaking out and sharing my authentic truth.
And it’s helped me again recognise in myself, where I get to heal and integrate and move towards greater wholeness within myself, as a result of these triggers and to embrace deeper courage to truly express my authentic self.
Our personal growth and expansion can feel so unnerving at times and as one of my beautiful clients shared with me recently, it can be like a roller coaster ride, so much liberation, lightness and freedom and so much heaviness and sometimes grief and heartache with the new awareness and aha’s that drop in and I couldn’t agree more.
The healing of our wounded ego survival mind, can take us quite on the adventure if we let it, and not always an enjoyable one. But what I know for sure, is that the journey just get’s better and better and lighter and lighter.
As we become more “equipped” with tools, strategies and emotional, physical and mental capacity, there can often be deeper and heavier things rise to the surface, for greater liberation to be found and had and I truly feel that’s what’s been happening for me currently.
Helping women understand so much about why they’ve struggled with their own boundaries, why they are so damn exhausted, why they feel continuously guilty if they do something for themselves, why they feel as if everything is their fault and why they feel so responsible for so many people in their lives, is something that is so freeing for them.
So many of my clients come to me saying, I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked, and that’s because unfortunately our current systems, don’t always recognise the deeper underlying causes and or actually give a person the real strategy of how to exit these deeply embedded beliefs that are encumbering them.
Talk therapy, whilst it has it’s place, can often keep people looping in cycles and continually retriggering their nervous system, with very little progress if any being made even over 3 years of sessions….
This breaks my heart, it absolutely doesn’t have to take that long, and whilst I believe healing can be an ongoing expansive part of our growth, we don’t have to be suffering continuously through it either. Knowing how to break free in the moment, is so powerful.
Things that used to take me out for 3-4 months at a time, take 5-10 minutes to work through these days, some things that are exceptionally big, can take a day or so, to get absolute clarity and really shift it, however when we have these tools, we no longer stay stuck, stagnant and frozen in shame and fear.
